The number of visitors using mobile gimmicks shot up to 56. 9 million from 42. 5 million with 34 % growth rate year after year. The total number of internet users in us was 227. 7 million. Therefore, nearly 25 % of internet users in us are accessing internet through mobile. Men were still ruling the users market, which accounted for 53 % of user market with 26 % year after year growth rate. Women accounted for 47 % of user market with 43 % year after year growth rate. Years after years, growth rate was increased for women as compared to men. Still in other forms of internet applied science, more men were early-adopters of the mobile web and keeping a more or less more prominent market part than women. (source: nielsen reports july’09)
In recent years, we have witness that the mobile industry is on a fast track, with huge growth in mobile syndication and publicity. While owing a smartphone was once just a business tool, more consumers than ever are using smartphones in their each and everyday lives. As stated by wikipedia, a smartphone is a mobile phone supplying advanced capablenesses, often times with personal computer. Smartphone usage is shifting from strictly business use to both personal and business use. Owners of smartphone are still more than two times likely to own a smartphone for business usage only. In the past year alone, the total number of smartphone contributors increased by 72 % quarter after quarter, growing from 15 million contributors in q2 2008 to 26 million in q2 2009. As stated by the nielsen report, even though the penetration level of smartphone users is still somewhat low which is nearly 17 % in q2 2009, they make up half of the mobile web audience. Italy has most number of smart phone adoption while U.S comes on 3rd spot.
